Overview

Jessica Bishop is a partner in a business law group at Goodmans. Her practice focuses on corporate and commercial law with a focus on complex commercial technology transactions.

Jessica represents financial institutions, insurance companies, technology service providers, pension funds, government agencies and companies in the asset management, health care, energy, securities, and other sectors which are involved in the development, acquisition and use of technology.

Jessica has extensive experience advising clients on technology procurement, outsourcing, cloud computing, payment systems, licensing, fintech, digital and e-commerce solutions, software development and systems implementation, data processing and privacy compliance. Jessica also advises on a range of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and blockchain. 

In 2021, Jessica was honoured as one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40. Jessica is also recognized in Information Technology by Chambers Canada and Chambers Global; in Privacy and Data Security Law, Information Technology Law and Technology Law by Best Lawyers in Canada; in Technology Transactions as “Leading Lawyer to Watch” by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory; and in Technology as “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500 Canada. Professional Involvement

Prior to law school, Jessica served as a communications and policy advisor to the former Attorney General of Ontario and policy advisor to the former Solicitor General of Ontario. Jessica served in the Canadian Forces Naval Reserves as a marine systems engineer, prior to her experience working in government.

Before joining Goodmans, Jessica was an associate at another Canadian firm, where she focused on technology contracting, outsourcing, payments and privacy law.
