Overview

Dan Block is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group at Goodmans. His practice focuses on corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. In particular, Dan has extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, shareholder disputes and securities litigation. He also has experience in cases involving professional liability, contract disputes, real estate, the oppression remedy and class actions.

Dan’s energy and infrastructure clients include project developers, contractors, insurers and government agencies. Dan has also acted for law firms and lawyers, as well as officers and directors of public and private companies.

Dan has acted as counsel on trials, arbitrations and appeals, and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada. He has also assisted clients in mediations and negotiated and documented settlements.

Dan is recognized by Benchmark Litigation Canada as a “Future Star”.

Professional Involvement

Dan has taught trial advocacy in a number of settings, including as an Advisor at Ryerson University’s Law Practice Program’s trial advocacy workshop. Dan also serves as a director for the Touching Tiny Lives Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping children affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho.
