As reported by Phone Arena, Samsung Electronics has recently filed trademark applications for “Galaxy VR” and “Galaxy 360”.
Earlier this year, during the annual Mobile World Congress, Samsung CEO Han Jong-hee announced that the company was working on a virtual reality (“VR”) device. These trademark filings indicate that Samsung’s new VR headset may launch under the Galaxy brand. The company may plan to join the likes of Facebook, Sony and Apple in the rapidly-growing VR space.
The Phone Arena commentator suggests that there is a strong possibility that Samsung will release its Galaxy VR headset this year, as typically trademark applications are filed close to the reveal of the actual device.
