Microsoft recently filed a patent that relates to the development of a “modular capsule” to be inserted inside digital pens.
The modular capsule would allow users to reuse the capsule on different stylus housings without having to purchase an entirely new stylus. The design is also intended to make users feel as though they are using a familiar ink pen or pencil.
According to Windows Latest, the patent suggests Microsoft is developing a unique new Surface Pen as part of its recognized line of Surface products.
Considering the growth of the digital pen market in recent years, it’s not surprising that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in an interview with ABC that he thinks conventional pens will become obsolete in the future.
