Maple Leaf Foods to spin off pork business into new company

Goodmans LLP is acting for McCain Capital Inc. and the McCain family, the largest shareholder of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., in connection with Maple Leaf Foods’ proposal to separate into two independent public companies.

Maple Leaf will continue to be a more focused brand-led consumer packaged goods company, and it will spin off its pork business into a new publicly traded company. The new pork company will provide Maple Leaf Foods with a secure supply of pork at market prices for its prepared foods business.
