Court of Appeal for Ontario Upholds Dismissal of Action Against Chevron Canada Limited
Chevron Canada Limited in its successful motion for summary judgment (a decision upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal) to dismiss the recognition and enforcement action of a US$9.5 Billion Ecuadorian judgment against Chevron Canada Limited, a seventh level indirect subsidiary of the alleged judgment debtor, Chevron Corporation, on the basis of separate corporate personality and lack of any basis to pierce the corporate veil.
