Comark Group’s restructuring proceedings

Goodmans LLP is counsel for Alvarez & Marsal Canada Inc. in its capacity as court-appointed monitor in the recognition proceedings of Comark Group under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (the “CCAA”).

The Comark Group operates more than 220 retail stores across eight Canadian provinces under the Ricki’s, cleo and Bootlegger banners (the “Retail Entities”). Ricki’s, cleo and Bootlegger have operated as retail clothing stores in Canada since 1939, 1994 and 1971 respectively.

Since completing a successful CCAA restructuring in 2020, the Comark Group has experienced several financial and operational challenges in recent years that have negatively impacted profitability and strained the Comark Group’s liquidity. In January 2025, the Comark Group commenced CCAA proceedings to obtain a stay of proceedings and to create a stabilized environment to maximize the value of its business and assets.
