Cleantech
Goodmans Cleantech lawyers understand the connection between technology, energy innovation and the business environment. We are intimately familiar with the economics of the Canadian energy-power industry, the applicable legal framework and the regulatory initiatives at play. Industry leaders turn to our experienced energy-power practitioners for their advice on regulatory compliance, corporate finance and securities, and M&A matters.
Our clients include regulators, developers, investors and entrepreneurs who develop and bring to market new energy materials and technologies. We partner with them to bring their ideas to market. We are committed to addressing our clients’ needs at every stage: from the earliest discovery or concept; through development, funding, partnerships, and large-scale utility operations; to public offerings and other capital events. Our lawyers have mastered the design, drafting, and negotiation of commercial agreements in clean and renewable energy projects, having worked with developers of renewable energy projects in Australia, Central America, the Middle East, and South Africa.
We also represent generators, distributors, transmitters and system operators before energy boards across Canada and have acted as advisors to those boards. Our energy regulatory lawyers and litigators represent major participants in the electricity sector in high-stakes proceedings and have appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on multiple cases involving constitutional and other issues of significance to the industry.
Our lawyers collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to provide more cost-efficient and extraordinarily effective counsel. Our internal team assists clients with private equity financing transactions and to secure their valuable intellectual property rights. We guide clients through M&A transactions and other financing transactions. We also assist clients with joint ventures and financings of clean technology manufacturing facilities and renewable energy power generation projects.
