Senior Land Use Planner

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Land Use Planner with at least 2-5 years of development planning experience to join our Municipal and Land Development group. Our municipal and planning lawyers are known as strong client advocates with rock-solid credibility among developers and governing bodies alike. Clients trust our smart, practical, solutions-driven style, and officials respect our flawless track records, industry knowledge and straightforward professionalism.
Land use planners are integral members of the team and assist in all aspects of the practice, including:
- Assessing the development potential of clients’ lands.
- Submitting and facilitating the processing of development applications under the Planning Act (e.g. official plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments, plans of subdivision/condominium, consents, minor variances and site plan approval).
- Preparing witnesses and evidence for Ontario Municipal Board hearings.
- Liaising directly with clients, municipal and provincial planning staff, politicians, technical consultants and the public.
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
- At least 2-5 years of experience in a land use planning role in the GTA. Experience with a municipal planning authority is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Planning Act and related legislation, and familiarity with the planning process.
- Membership in CIP and OPPI.
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Dedicated and flexible team player with the ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision when required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with high attention to detail in a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment.
